Chantal Dobles Gering

Chantal (they/she) is a nonbinary latinx/german theatre artist, actor, bassist, choreographer, playwright, and poet based in what is colonially known as Vancouver on the stolen and unsurrendered territories of the Coast Salish, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam Nations.

They are a recent graduate of the UBC BFA Acting program. Chantal’s previous training includes Arts Umbrella' Musical Theatre Program, Arts Club's Musical Theatre Intensive, Acting and Shakespeare at the Drama Centre London, and Bard on the Beach's Riotous Youth. Chantal’s previous acting credits include Concord Floral (2017 Push Festival), One of a Kind (International Children’s Festival), Centurions by Sally Stubbs, Isle Dell’arte, The Changeling, and Dream Play at UBC.

As a creator, they made Clitorisms: A Gender Fucking Clown Show with Angelic Goldsky on Instagram Live, produced 24 hour playwriting competition Play4Change, and premiered their play Papa Records Everything in the 2020 National Theatre School's Art Apart Festival. Most recently, they toured Wings Over Water: A Diasporic Bird Play in the 2021 Nanaimo and Vancouver Fringe Festivals with Anjalica Solomon and Sarvin Esmaeili.
